Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to what we hear most.

Do I pay before seeing a proof?

No. Your card is authorized at checkout to hold your order, but we don't charge it until you approve the digital proof we email you. If you cancel before approving, you aren't charged.

How long does a custom plaque take?

You'll get a free digital proof within one business day of ordering. Once you approve it, most pieces ship within about two business days. Larger perpetual and roster plaques and big bulk runs can take a little longer — we'll tell you up front.

I have a deadline. Can you rush it?

Usually, yes. Tell us your in-hands date at checkout and choose a faster UPS service. Select in-stock items qualify for Same-Day Service on weekdays (order by 11:30 AM ET and approve your proof by 2 PM ET). For anything tight, call us and we'll tell you honestly what's possible.

Do I have to design it myself?

No. You can design it online with a live preview, or use "We'll design it for you" — send us your wording (and a logo if you have one) and a designer lays it out and emails you a proof. Either way the proof is free.

Is there a charge to add text or emblems?

Text, emblems, and separators engrave free, and there are no setup fees on your design. Logos have a small engraving charge (from $12.95) because they're converted into a clean engraving file; reorders don't pay the setup again.

What file types can I upload for a logo?

Vector files (SVG, EPS, AI, PDF) are ideal, but we can work from a high-resolution PNG or JPG too. We clean it up for engraving and show you exactly how it will look on the proof.

What should I write on my plaque?

Lead with the reason ("In Recognition of", "With Gratitude"), then the recipient's name in the largest type, then the details — dates, title, and a short line of thanks. Our wording guides have dozens of ready-to-use examples for retirements, years of service, memorials, and more.

What size plaque should I get?

For a name and a line or two of text, 7" × 9" or 8" × 10" is ideal. Add a logo or a longer message and step up to 9" × 12" or larger. When in doubt, size up — extra space around the text looks more premium than a crowded plate.

Can I see what my plaque will look like before it's made?

Yes — twice. The online designer shows your text and logo on the actual piece as you work, and a designer emails you a proof to approve before anything is engraved. Request as many changes as you need.

Why does the product photo show someone else's engraving?

Our product photos show sample engraving so you can see how a finished piece looks. Yours is engraved with your own wording, logo, and layout — exactly as shown on the proof you approve.

Can you personalize a whole set?

Yes — design once, mark the fields that change (like name or year), and upload your name list. We produce a matching set from one design and one proof. For large runs, ask us about volume pricing.

Do you accept tax-exempt orders?

Yes. Schools, nonprofits, fire companies, and government agencies can check "Tax exempt order" at checkout and send us their exemption certificate. See our tax-exempt page for details.

How much is shipping?

UPS Ground is free on orders of $150 or more. Below that, shipping is calculated live from UPS at checkout based on your address and the size and weight of your package — faster 2nd Day and Next Day services are always available. Every order ships with tracking.

What if something is wrong with my order?

If we made an error — a typo we introduced, a defect, or damage in transit — we remake or refund it. Because each piece is personalized, we can't accept returns for change-of-mind or for errors that were on an approved proof, so please check your proof carefully.
